If you were the passenger
Keep the trip receipt, date, time, driver and vehicle details, and any incident or claim reference number. Tell us where you were seated, whether you were wearing a seatbelt and whether you struck the door, headrest or another surface. You do not have to figure out legal fault before seeking medical attention. Bring available hospital records and describe symptoms that affect sleep, movement or daily activities.
If another driver’s rideshare vehicle hit you
A driver may use the same car for personal trips and app-based rides. Let the insurer investigate what the driver was doing at the time; you should not have to guess. Bring the accident report, the other vehicle’s details and your own claim information. If you were walking or cycling, describe that clearly rather than being recorded simply as another driver.
Why the app status matters
Massachusetts law distinguishes a driver logged on and available for requests from a driver engaged in a pre-arranged ride. Required insurance differs between those situations, and a personal policy may exclude rideshare use. Keep any available trip information, but do not assume which policy pays from a screenshot alone. The insurer or your attorney should identify the applicable coverage. Our office helps with clinical records and billing information, not legal coverage decisions.
What we can do at an accident evaluation
Dr. Cordima reviews the crash history, symptom timing and previous care, then examines the areas that need attention. Neck and back complaints, headaches or pain involving a shoulder or knee need assessment; an app receipt cannot diagnose them. If care here is appropriate, we explain the options and costs. Some findings require another medical evaluation before any treatment is considered.
Keep the paperwork practical
Save the trip receipt and claim communications in one place. Ask who is handling the medical portion of the claim and what information the office needs for billing. We can provide clinical records to an authorized recipient with your permission. We are an independent practice and are not affiliated with, endorsed by or employed by Uber, Lyft or the delivery platforms mentioned here.
